Fallin’ (Official Remix)

The first time I heard “Fallin’” it caught me off guard. Back then it was rare to hear a Filipino act go full pop / future bass, and I got hooked fast — I couldn’t help imagining my own spin on it.

The original “Fallin’” is a dreamy dance-pop single by Filipino singer-songwriter Zion Aguirre and Singapore-based Filipino producer Dave Anonuevo, released on Tarsier Records. Zion — from Cavite — is known for his fusion of dream pop and soulful vocals, while Dave has built a name around future bass and pop.

So I flipped it: more dance, a future-house bounce with a bit of trap in the low end — just something fun. I sent it over to Dave Anonuevo, the producer of the original (and a genuinely nice guy, now CEO of Unstable Records). To my surprise they loved it, and Dave passed it on to Tarsier Records, who put it out as the official remix.

The remit I set myself was simple: keep what makes “Fallin’” land, but give it a new body — future-house energy, dance drums, a touch of trap — and above all, keep it fun.
